State to Hold Public Hearings on Impediments to Fair Housing in Louisiana The state of Louisiana will hold a weeklong series of public hearings on the status of fair housing in Louisiana starting Monday, March 15. LRA Board Meets Thursday in Baton Rouge to Act on Recovery Funding, Receive Update on Rapides Levees The Board of Directors of the Louisiana Recovery Authority will meet Thursday, March 11, 9 a.m. to discuss and vote on both the state's final allocation of hazard mitigation funds for recovery from hurricanes Gustav and Ike and also a strategy for reallocating potential unspent funds for recovery from hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
State of Louisiana Now Accepting Applications in Affordable Rental Program for Gustav, Ike Impacted Parishes The state of Louisiana is accepting applications starting this week in the $50 million Affordable Rental Program for parishes damaged by hurricanes Gustav and Ike in 2008. State Reminds Homeowners of March 10 Deadline for Declaring Interest in Post-Katrina and Rita Elevation, Mitigation Funding Homeowners affected by hurricanes Katrina and Rita who wish to participate in the state-run elevation and Individual Mitigation Measures program have until March 10, 2010 to return forms showing interest in the programs.
Houma Workshop for Affordable Rental Housing Program Moved to Terrebonne Parish Library The March 2 venue of the Houma workshop for the state's Affordable Rental Program has been changed to the Terrebonne Parish Library. Ongoing construction at the Council Chambers has required moving the workshop to the main branch of the parish library at 151 Library Drive in Houma. The time remains the same, from 9 a.m. to noon. LRA February Board Meeting Cancelled The meeeting of the LRA board of directors scheduled for Thursday, February 25 has been cancelled. The next meeting will take place on Mar. 11 in House Committtee Room 1 in the State Capitol.
State Announces Outreach Meetings for $22.7 Million Fisheries Recovery Programs Next week the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and the Louisiana Recovery Authority, in partnership with the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry, Louisiana State University and Louisiana SeaGrant, will host a series of four outreach meetings across coastal Louisiana to discuss the launch of a $22.7 million program designed to further assist Louisiana's fisheries affected by hurricanes Gustav and Ike in 2008. State Accepting Public Comments on $100 Million Plan to Devote Gustav, Ike Aid to Economic Development, State and Local Government Match The LRA and the state Office of Community Development are accepting public comments on the fourth amendment to Louisiana's plan for spending its allocation of federal funds for recovery from hurricanes Gustav and Ike, which dedicates $100 million to economic development and aid to local governments, farmers and agribusinesses.
LRA Board Meets Thursday in Baton Rouge to Act on Gustav, Ike Funding The Board of Directors of the Louisiana Recovery Authority will meet Thursday, January 28, 2010, to discuss and vote on a preliminary plan for spending a pool of $100 million in recovery funds for rebuilding after hurricanes Gustav and Ike. Rainwater joins governor’s staff, Keegan named LRA executive director On Dec. 23, Governor Jindal appointed Louisiana Recovery Authority Executive Director Paul Rainwater as his new deputy chief of staff. Robin Keegan, LRA deputy director, will become the agency’s new executive director effective Jan. 1, 2010.
LRA December Board Meeting Cancelled The meeeting of the LRA board of directors scheduled for Thursday, December 17 has been cancelled. The next meeting will take place Thursday, January 28, 2010. Louisiana Encourages Homeowners with Contaminated Drywall to Report Problems to the State The state of Louisiana continues an outreach effort to gather data about homes affected by contaminated drywall, which can emit chemicals that cause corrosion of copper and metal tubing and electrical wiring, by launching a hotline today where homeowners can report problem drywall incidents.
LRA Housing Task Force Focused on Rental Housing at Monday Meeting in New Orleans The Louisiana Recovery Authority's Housing Task Force met Monday at the University of New Orleans to focus on rental housing initiatives, including the status of current programs and a market study of current rental options.
