Louisiana Recovery Authority Board of Directors Meets Wednesday in Baton Rouge
Action Plan addressing Contaminated Drywall to be heard

BATON ROUGE, La. - The board of the Louisiana Recovery Authority will meet Wednesday, with a vote scheduled on a plan for allocating $5 million to assist Road Home applicants who have contaminated drywall in their rebuilt homes.

In addition, the board will hear a presentation from the Midland Branch Rail, as well as updates on the following:

  • St. Bernard Parish's Recovery from Parish President Craig Taffaro;
  • Terrebonne Parish's Gustav/Ike Programs from Parish President Michel Claudet;
  • Post-Disaster Mental Health from REACH NOLA;
  • The Piggyback Loan Program Status; and
  • The Louisiana Land Trust from the New Orleans Redevelopment Authority.

Created in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita in 2005, the Louisiana Recovery Authority (LRA) is the coordinating and planning body leading the most extensive rebuilding effort in American history. The central point for hurricane recovery in Louisiana, the LRA works closely with the Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) and partners with state and federal agencies to oversee more than $20 billion worth of programs, speed the pace of rebuilding, remove hurdles and red tape and ensure that Louisiana recovers safer and stronger than before.
